The problem

A waterproof jacket is usually three materials glued together, and that is why it dies

Face fabric, membrane, backer. Each one is a different polymer, laminated so tightly that no recycler can pull them apart economically. So a shell that took years to engineer gets shredded into insulation filler, burned for energy, or buried. The industry calls that recycling. It is the end of the line dressed up as a beginning.

ECOON exists because the fix is not a better claim, it is a different construction. If the whole garment belongs to one polymer family, it can be recovered whole and spun into the next one. That is the entire premise, and everything else we do follows from it.

What we hold ourselves to

  • 100% recycled

    Post-consumer polyester and nylon. No virgin fibre enters the chain, including in the membrane and the insulation.

  • 100% recyclable

    One polymer family per garment, so it goes back into the stream whole rather than being cut apart or downcycled.

  • PFC-free

    The water repellency does not outlive the garment in a watercourse. It also needs reproofing sooner. We think that is the right trade.

  • Made in Europe

    Short chains, audited mills, small runs. Fewer references made properly beats a catalogue nobody can trace.

The name

ECO is the material. ON is the switch.

The three rings in the mark are the loop: fibre, garment, fibre again. We put them on the sleeve rather than across the chest, because the point is the construction underneath, not the badge.

The brand is part of DPT, a group that has been making technical sportswear since 2018. ECOON is the part of it that refuses to use anything new.

What we are not claiming

Buying a jacket is not an environmental act

Making clothing costs energy, water and freight, and ours is no exception. A recycled shell is better than a virgin one, and no shell at all is better than both. We would rather sell you one piece that lasts eight seasons than four that last two.

We are not carbon neutral and we do not buy offsets to say that we are. We publish what we have measured, we say plainly what we have not, and we would rather be held to a number we can defend than a badge we bought.
